Downloading the PDF works and is acceptable. Thanks to Randall Carey for providing the link. The real question is WHY did I (and apparently many other customers) not receive a printed manual in the box? Seems like yet another misstep by Arken. If anyone at Arken is reading this, I'd like a printed manual sent to me!

@Arken Optics USA You need to invest in your web site and provide (at the minimum) simple communication (email) and help (support) links. Customers experiencing issues with orders or purchases shouldn't have to guess how to receive assistance. Forums are of limited use. Getting answers from other customers is often unreliable. Excuses such as "SMS issues" don't help foster confidence in Arken's reliability to provide acceptable and/or timely customer service. I'm an IT professional... and no, I'm not looking to fix your issues. But I do know what I'm taking about! Arken needs to step it up it's business savvy.

Regardless of anyone’s position on the benefits of a single “Off” dot vs. multiple ones, I’m sure we can all agree that Arken’s illumination should simply work as designed…on every one of their riflescopes! If a customer is experiencing an issue with illumination, it should be properly addressed.

I have it set on the dot in between the 1 and 6. But I've also tested all the other dot settings and they are all working fine.

UPDATE: I checked my riflescope last night and again just now. The battery is NOT dead and the illumination IS working correctly. I suggest that you try a new battery and if the problem continues, email Arken (vs. posting the problem on this Forum) for resolution.

Just look at the illumination dial and ensure that the left-pointing arrow to the right of the left turret is pointing to any of the dots, instead of to a number.

That depends a lot on the brand of rifle. Saying a “wooden” rifle doesn’t really provide much info. I’d suggest that you search the manufacture’s web site for any available info regarding mounting accessories such as a riflescope and mount (if not already present on the rifle). I’d also recommend checking YouTube for related videos, as well as searching Google for that topic. As a last resort, you can bring the rifle into a local reputable firearms shop for personal advice. One last thing. Make sure any existing mount is securely fitted on the rifle. Good luck!

Two relevant pieces of information missing from Arken's minimal riflescope documentation are: 1) Identifying the battery type. 2) How to open the battery compartment cover.

I also experienced a bit of difficulty opening the battery compartment cover, though I was able to open it without using any tools. This definitely seems like an area where Arken should consider a redesign of the cover and incorporate a "coin" indentation, or some other type of enhancement to facilitate easier battery compartment cover removal.
