I could not find a search feature, so if you know of a post already answering this, I would appreciate a link.
I am a hunter that yearly will take a class that goes out to 400 yards. Hunting is in KY and my shots are typically 100 yards and in. I am looking at the EPL-4 4-16x44 FFP Illuminated Reticle, which has the option of VHR, as well as the SH-4G2 4-16X50mm FFP, which has the option of VPR. I realize the SH-4G2 has the Christmas tree for windage and the EPL-4 does not, but I cannot see what the difference is if I add the VHR or the VPR to each scope. When I look at the MIL images with each option (VHR, VPR) added, I don't see a difference. I'm not the most schooled on what I'm doing here, so any help would be appreciated.
MIL is MIL, MOA is MOA, regardless of which reticle you are dealing with. The VPR gives you the advatage of being able to do wind holds without second guessing. Better to have and not need in my opinion. 100 yards and less, there is no need for wind calls, as the wind isn't going to have much of an effect on the trajectory.
