I have just ordered my first rifle - Savage Axis 2 Precision. I am going to purchase the EP5 but have no idea which height of mounts I should get - would medium be the correct ones?

This is my first scope so don't know a great deal. I am going to get the combo pack from Arken with the 34mm 1.26 medium rings. I assume that matches with your recommendation? :)
I am going to have to change out my rings once I get my Outlier barrel installed! The barrel diameter is 1.2", with no taper.
The EP5 will work with the Halo Low rings, in conjunction with the 20MOA mounting rail. If you wish to use the sunshade, and/or Flipits scope caps, it will be very close. It is close on my rifle, and the caps barely touch the barrel.
If that is too close for you, I would recommend the Halo Mediums. It should give you approximately 5/16" clearance for the objective, and about 1/4" clearance with the caps.
