Oddly enough, because it was not just stiff, that worked. It did break loose, but took some force to do it. Seems fine now. Thanks for the push.

To make sure this is crystal clear, the magnification ring is frozen in place, not simply stiff, but completely immovable except for 1-2 degrees of side to side slack.
