I had my 4-16 arken sh4 scope with low rings on my 6.5 creedmoor , I recently switched it out with the 6-24 arken sh4 scope with medium rings . I plugged in the specs into the applied ballistics app to get new data . Now after shooting I’m shooting way higher than the suggested data. Any ideas why ?
i did double check the information I plugged in for my bullet and rifle but it was still incorrect.
Adjust the scope height in your app
The ring height changes the scope over bore measurement which will cause a shift. With a higher scope over bore measurement you will not have to dial as much at distance than you will with a lower scope over bore. Most ballistic apps will have a place to enter scope hight to help account for this.
Did the weather change a lot between shooting? If it was hot when you shot the old scope and cold now that could account for some. Also, your 100yd zero could be ever so slightly off and accounting for the rest. As long as you can now repeat your dope from zero to range and back i wouldn't worry about it.
Yes it was zeroed in with the same bullets and I never changed the base but yes it is sitting on a 20moa rail. The only thing that I changed were the rings I went from low to medium. Before with the low rings my adjustment for 300 was 1.2 mils but now that I switched to the medium rings my adjustment is now .6 mils .
Did you zero the new scope? Did you change to a 20moa base? Are you shooting the exact same ammo? Changing scopes will not affect your trajectory. If you zeroed the rifle after installation of the new scope everything should be good. If not, one of the scopes is not
