My SH-4 Gen 2 6-24 just arrived. It came with the battery packaged separately. I don't know if I'm just missing something, but I can't find any way to open the battery compartment. It's not mentioned in the manual anywhere, and there are no obvious markings on the scope itself. One would think you simply unscrew the end cap of the illumination turret, but it's basically impossible to turn without spinning the turret itself, and there is no easy way to torque on it either. Any help is appreciated.

Which battery does the SH4 need? Mine didn't come with one
This is how she looks near twilight.. with the illum on..
How much of the reticle is illuminated on the SH-4 Gen II 6-24x50mm? if not the whole tree, can you see the rest of the lower reticle to choose holdovers in low light situations?
I also experienced a bit of difficulty opening the battery compartment cover, though I was able to open it without using any tools. This definitely seems like an area where Arken should consider a redesign of the cover and incorporate a "coin" indentation, or some other type of enhancement to facilitate easier battery compartment cover removal.
Thanks guys. Just wanted to confirm where the compartment was before I potentially broke something. Ended having to use a couple of vise grips to get it open.
Mine was an easy finger hold on the illumination ring, and just twist off the cap with my free hand. Hopefully yours will come off easy as well!
You will need to hold the illumination turret and then unscrew the cap. I had to use pliers, leather, hammer and a punch. You will need to hold the illumination with the pliers and leather and then tap the end cap open with the hammer and punch.
